Because I Love Myself

We invite the best things to us through our self-love.  When we love ourselves, we want the best for ourselves, and we are open to receiving it.  When we love ourselves, we recognize our worth and we cherish ourselves for it.  We make self-care and spiritual growth a priority when we love ourselves.

Without self-love we don’t feel we deserve the best in life, and we close ourselves off to it.  Without self-love, we fail to value ourselves and set healthy boundaries.  We neglect our self-care and deny our spirit when we do not love ourselves.

I believe self-love is the first ingredient to manifesting a better life.  Unless we can accept that we deserve good things, that joy is a birthright and we are all worthy of it, then good things can never come to us.

What does it truly mean to have self-love?  While this may vary a bit for different individuals, I think that there are certain aspects of self-love that are universal.  This is what it means to me…

  • Because I love myself, I remember that I am responsible for my own happiness.  I cannot control the emotions of others and they cannot control mine.  No one can make me happy; I must choose to be happy.  My emotional control is my responsibility and my priority.

  • Because I love myself, I take care of my daily needs.  I feed, clothe, shelter, and groom myself.  I take care of my home and pay my bills.  I take time to move my body and nurture my mind and spirit.

  • Because I love myself, I set my worth high.  I treat myself with respect and expect respect from others.  I set healthy boundaries by speaking my truth and refusing to accept less than I deserve.  I let myself accept loving frequencies from myself and others and I reject lower frequency energy that others bring into my space or try to direct toward me.

Through these acts of love for myself, I invite all the goodness life has to offer.  I also build strength and equanimity to carry me through life’s challenges.  When I love myself well, I know that all things are possible.  How do you show your love for yourself?
