Let your joy lead you. It's one of your most powerful tools for healing and expansion.
One of the wonderful things about Reiki is how personal it becomes over time. The more we practice, the more we discover what feels meaningful and fulfilling to us. A recent conversation with another practitioner reminded me how easy it can be to get caught up in what we think we "should" be doing. The truth is that true expansion happens when we follow what brings us joy.
If you’re feeling stuck, stagnant, or unsure of your next step as a Reiki practitioner, start by asking yourself what part of Reiki brings you the most joy. There’s no right or wrong answer.
You might love offering distance sessions, feel inspired to teach, or enyoy sharing Reiki with children or animals. You may be drawn to community work, hosting circles, or deepening your studies. Pay attention to those moments that make you feel alive and aligned and let them guide you.
Your Reiki practice doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s. It can be a unique blend of what lights you up. When you lead with joy, your energy shifts. Your clients will notice. Opportunities will arise. Your practice will begin to grow in ways that feel natural and sustainable.
Here are a few ways to realign with joy and allow your practice to expand:
1. Notice what energizes you.
Think back to the last time you felt excited about Reiki. What were you doing? Who were you with? What was the setting? Use those clues to help guide your next steps.
2. Give yourself permission to evolve.
Sometimes we outgrow parts of our practice. That doesn’t mean we’ve failed. It just means we’re growing and changing. Let yourself try new things. Take a class that interests you. Collaborate with someone. Say yes to what feels exciting and right to you.
3. Share your joy.
When you speak from the heart, people will listen. Don’t be afraid to talk about the things that make Reiki meaningful to you. When you’re writing a social media post, speaking to a friend, or welcoming a new client your passion will be evident.
4. Create space for what’s next.
If your schedule or energy feels too full, it might be time to simplify. Let go of anything that feels heavy or out of alignment. Make room for the new ideas and connections that want to come through.
5. Keep checking in.
What brings you joy will change over time. As you grow, your practice will too. Set aside time every month or season to ask yourself: Is this still bringing me joy? Is there something more I want to explore? Your honest answers will always point you in the right direction.
The more you follow what feels joyful, the more Reiki becomes a reflection of your true self. That’s when your practice becomes not just something you do, but something that grows with you, supports you, and continues to expand.
