You can begin your crystal healing education on your own with these simple tips.
If you feel drawn to crystals, you’re not alone. They are not only beautiful, but hold unique energy patterns that can support healing, clarity, and spiritual growth. You don’t need to be an expert to start learning crystal healing. You can begin right where you are, with just a few stones and a desire to experiment and learn.
Here are some simple tips to help you get started learning crystal healing on your own:
1. Start with the Crystals You’re Drawn To
It’s okay to begin with just one or two stones. You don’t need a huge collection. Notice which crystals you feel naturally drawn to. Trust your intuition, your energy knows what you need.
2. Learn the Properties One at a Time
Don’t worry about memorizing everything at once. Focus on one crystal, spend time with it, and observe how it makes you feel. Read about its properties and how it’s been traditionally used. Let your relationship with each stone grow naturally.
3. Use Reputable Resources
There’s a lot of information out there, but some teachers stand out for their clarity and depth. One of my favorite resources is Ethan Lazzerini. He explains crystal healing in a grounded, easy-to-understand way. His blog and books are full of helpful tips and real-life insight. If you're looking for someone to guide you on your journey, I highly recommend him.
4. Read and Explore on Your Own Time
Two books I’ve really enjoyed and often recommend are:
Crystal Gridwork by Kiera Fogg: This book teaches how to arrange crystals in patterns to focus energy and intention. It’s simple, has beautiful photo examples, and is practical.
Essential Crystal Meditation by Karen Frazier: A guide for using crystals during meditation. It includes specific crystal meditations you can try, even as a beginner.
5. Practice Daily Presence
Crystal healing is about energy—and your energy matters. Hold your crystals. Carry them in your pocket. Place them around your space. Use them during prayer, journaling, meditation, or Reiki. What matters most is your intention and connection.
6. Keep a Crystal Journal
Write down your experiences with each crystal recording how you use them, what you feel, and what you notice over time. This helps create a personal reference you can return to whenver you’d like.
7. Be Patient and Gentle with Yourself
This is your journey. There’s no rush. Crystal healing is a path of experimenting, learning, and growing. You’re allowed to explore at your own pace.
If working with crystals has been calling to you, I encourage you to begin. There’s no wrong way to start, just follow what feels right. And remember, you’re not alone on this path. Many are learning right alongside you. Next, check out my article Choosing Crystals for Crystal Energy Work.
