Although Reiki is wonderful on its own, I enjoy combining it with the energy of crystals. I think that the influence of the vibrations of various crystals when introduced to our energy field can help us to alter our own vibrations and better align ourselves with particular goals. I use crystals both for their energetic properties in healing and personal development work and for their aesthetic value within a space.

I use a lot of intuition when choosing crystals for myself or my clients, but I don’t depend on intuition alone. I know about the energetic properties of the stones I use in my practice and I keep those in mind when choosing the crystals I want to work with. It has taken a lot of time and research to familiarize myself with the many stones I use regularly.

Many of the properties we seek in crystals come from their color. Becoming familiar with the energetic properties of colors can be an easy way to start to familiarize yourself with crystal properties. Color is not the only factor that influences a crystal’s energetic vibration. The shape of the crystal’s internal structure, the materials from which it was formed, the way in which it was harvested, cut, and cared for all influence its vibration. This gives each crystal, even crystals of the same type, a unique energetic signature, just as humans and animals each have our own energetic signature.

When choosing which crystals to work with, it is good to ask what physical, mental/emotional, or spiritual situations are currently being experienced. You also want to know what result is expected of the crystals you will use. Know what needs healed, and what the goal of healing is before you begin. After I know this information, I am able to use my knowledge of crystal properties to get an idea of what type of stones will aid in clearing the vibrations we are trying to change and what will best help with alignment with the vibrations we are trying to match.

After determining what properties, I need to look for in the crystals I will be working with, then it is time to use my intuition. I have several stones with similar properties, and several of each type of stone. I will go to them with the knowledge of where I am starting and where I want to end up and I will let myself look at and feel the stones I know may be helpful. I may hold my hand above them or hold them in my hand when trying to choose the right ones to use. I will choose the stone that my higher self is drawn to.

Due to the many variants that can affect a crystal’s energy, I always recommend picking out crystals you wish to own and work with on a regular basis personally, and by hand if possible, to see which ones feel right to you. However, if it is not possible to pick your crystals yourself, it is okay to ask the Universe to send you the crystals that are right for you when ordering online and to trust that the perfect stones will find their way to you.
